Core Value: Consistency

Core Value: Consistency

Have you ever heard about the 80/20 rule. This is otherwise known as Pareto’s Principle?
The Pareto principle states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.
This applies to multiple domains, it can be highly controversial in some areas, and it’s a general principle. However, it also applies to our journey through fitness.

Have you ever been overwhelmed by a routine? Have you ever had one bad day that rolls into 2 bad months of fitness? I would say almost everyone has experienced some form of falling off the wagon. Even the very best of us have had moments where we stopped doing fitness and eating well. Our coaches are far from perfect. We fall sometimes just like everybody else.
The main thing you want to remember is that the majority of what we do matters. As the expression goes, “To be human is to be flawed”. Stop beating yourself up for falling off the rails and just get back on the horse. Okay, enough expressions for today. You get the point. You want to get back to your fitness right now, stop procrastinating. We all have chaotic moments but keep thinking about your long term goal. If you don’t have one then that’s the main problem. Stop reading this post and read this post on goal setting  The more purpose you have around why you’re doing what you’re doing the quicker you’re likely to get back on track. Not having a goal is probably also a big reason why you stopped doing fitness in the first place.
Last expression I swear, actions speak louder than words. If you stop doing fitness every time you get busy with work then you probably don’t have a really good reason for doing fitness in the first place. You need to connect your fitness with your own intention around fitness. There is a reason why the most successful people in the world do fitness on a regular basis. If you don’t believe me then just read this article. Entrepreneurs have realized that keeping fit allows them to continue to run their businesses efficiently. In their case the thing they love most is often working. They want to keep working for a long period of time in good health. Therefore, they’ve attached healthy living to being able to work for longer.
So you had a bad long weekend. In the grand scheme of things, it’s really quite minimal. It’s what you do 5-6 days out of the week that is really important. Don’t be too hard on yourself and remember with everything, you want balance. You wouldn’t be able to work 24 hours a day, because a balance of rest is important for restoration. The Same strategy applies to health and fitness. Stick to it consistently, admit and own your mistakes and instead of using them as a crutch. Use them as a means to get back on track. Most people don’t know but one of our core values is “Consistency”. It’s the back bone of making sure you’re successful with your health and wellness.
